As of 2/7/25 We are no longer accepting new triage volunteers at this time. We are still happy to have certified healthcare workers apply!
Our Board of Directors (BoD) is made up of volunteers, most of whom have regular clinic contact. Our board is responsible to keeping the long term vision of our organization in check, evaluating our finances, and evaluating our progress toward our goal of proving that Healthcare is a Human Right. Our Board has voting rights and is made up of the following positions:
President - Our president provides oversight of Occupy Medical and manages the organization. Additionally, they collect and return phone calls and physical mail, and complete managerial tasks including grant writing.
Vice President - Occupy’s vice president supports the president and is able to stand in for them if necessary. They think about the big picture of clinics, making sure that they run smoothly and that volunteers are kept active. The vice president also manages clinic sign-ups and transports our supply trailer.
Secretary - The secretary manages group communications with volunteers and is in charge of sending and receiving emails for Occupy Medical. They also record board meeting minutes and reach out to new volunteers.
Treasurer - Our treasurer works closely with Occupy Medical’s accountant, checks donations, and is in charge of making deposits and tracking receipts. They also work on fundraising and communicate financial updates to the board.
Triage Coordinator - The triage coordinator tracks demographic information and other statistics from clinics. They also handle the training of new triage volunteers and develop training materials and procedures.
Outreach - Occupy’s outreach coordinator publicizes our services to populations that could potentially benefit from them and works with other local organizations with shared goals. They also communicate with ASUO and other university groups.
Inventory - The inventory manager makes sure that the supply trailer is stocked and keeps a log of what supplies Occupy Medical has and needs. They also communicate with company donors to receive supplies.
Social Media - Our social media manager is in charge of Occupy Medical’s social media including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn as well as the website. They work with the outreach coordinator to improve donations and make posts about special events in addition to regular clinics.
Triage greets the patient, starts the paperwork, and collects vital signs and other key information needed to prepare the physician for an appointment.
The patient talks to a doctor, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. They are accompanied by triage to assist with documentation and refer patients to other avenues of care at Occupy Medical, or with our allies.
Nurses and physicians provide care for cuts, sores, foot issues, and infections. Patients recieve extra first-aid supplies so they can take care of the wound in a hygienic way long term.
Hospitality also offers free hygiene supplies, lotions, nail clippers, socks, condoms, warm clothing, and a long list of other items one might need when unhoused or living in extreme poverty.
Security volunteers keep the peace at Occupy Medical. They are in charge of crowd control and maintaining a calm, healing environment for all. They work in conjunction with the Support Services team.
Our IT volunteers control web-based needs to manage the communications between our volunteers, donors, and patients.
